Back to overview

Det Digit Art House is the former living and working space of artist Det Digit. After her passing in 2024, it was transformed into a place for creating new connections and generating knowledge between the arts, design and science. As one of the first (female) digital and internet artists in the Netherlands, Det Bazelmans, under the name Det Digit, has created a virtual world since the early 1990s, inspired by her digital encounters around the world. Just as Det has always been curious about others, the objective of the Det Digit Art House foundation is to promote mutual understanding between different contexts and cultures around the world. The foundation has as its aim to promote the sharing of results and knowledge based on the collective idea of ‘the commons’.

Det Digit Art House is located in a rural environment within a forest outside Knegsel, a village close to Eindhoven. It offers both the opportunity for seclusion and the chance to explore the cultural life of the city Eindhoven nearby. The programme consists of providing temporary (1-3 months) living and working space in the former studio and living quarters of Det Digit. The building, thanks to its unique location in its own forest, has remained entirely in keeping with the artist’s spirit. Themes include the connections between nature and (digital) technology, physical and virtual environments, science and art.
