Description
Witte Rook is a Breda based platform for research, experiment and reflection in the field of visual arts with a focus on social issues.
Organisation
Our residency projects take place in the outdoor space, in digital space, are focused on research or international exchange. Here, we take the local environment as a starting point, such as the history of the city and region, its heritage, public space and the communities, residents and users that are part of it. We thus relate specific topics to universal themes and make connections with the world around us for exchange and interpretation.
Program
The programme is based on providing time, space and context in the form of long-term projects in which the narrative of the artist is central. The realisation pays special attention to publishing about the process and influence of digital culture on art and society. In collaboration with writing art professionals and artists, Witte Rook builds an archive of content and contexts.
